After going 2/4 in my first round predictions, I know bring you my picks for second round action this weekend:
#11 Gonzaga Bulldogs vs. #3 Utah Utes:
Gonzaga soared past Big East Champions #6 Seton Hall on Thursday. Today, they will face Pac-12 tournament runner-up #3 Utah Utes. The Bulldogs had only one loss of more than six points all season, and they are being heavily undervalued in the tournament. The Bulldogs two stars Kyle Wiltjer and Domantas Sabonis combined for 34 points in the win against Seton Hall, and should lead their team to another victory in the second round.
#14 Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks vs. #6 Notre Dame Fighting Irish:
This is going to be an amazing game on Sunday. ND is a high quality team, but is suffering from inconsistency, and the Lumberjacks have been the definition of consistent all season long. The Fighting Irish are athletically superior and can defeat SFA, but I doubt they will play to their full potential and the Lumberjack’s could advance their cinderella run to the Sweet 16.
#15 Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders vs. #10 Syracuse Orange:
People judged and questioned the NCAA selection committee for adding Syracuse to the field in the first place. However, after the Orange pummelled Dayton on Friday, anything is possible for a team and coach with lots of postseason experience. On the other hand, Middle Tennessee defeated Michigan State in the most un-foreseen upset in the first round. After that incomparable victory, they can do anything. The Blue Raiders made 58% of the 3-point shots and 65% of their field goal’s, and that is exactly why I like them to advance to the Sweet 16
